News Updates Michael is planning two recitals for 2008 in Hobart. One with Phillipa Moyes and Jabra Latham in September, and one with Karen Smithies in November. More details will come for both. To keep updated please come back again soon. On the 20th of December Michael graduated from the Tasmanian Conservatorium of Music with first class honours. To see a photo of the 2008 honours graduates Click Here. Michael has been cast in the Melbourne Opera Companies 2008 season of Puccini's classic opera 'La Boheme'. Michael will perform the role of Schaunard. More details and dates to come. On November 30th, Michael was awarded the Hobart Orpheus Choir Scholarship. The award was presented by the Hobart Lord Mayor, Rob Valentine at the 130th Celebration Concert of the Hobart Orpheus Choir. Michael has already been booked for several performances for 2008. In March he will perform the bass solos in Bach's St. Matthew Passion singing alongside Greg Massingham and Jane Edwards and in late August Michael will premiere Matthew Dewey's new chamber opera 'The Buzz of the Sea' in a concert piano version with Karen Smithies. Through out January Michael will appear in the role of the Judge in Gilbert and Sullivan's immortal 'Trial by Jury'. For more information see the Performance Schedule Page. In early December Michael goes to Nagoya Japan to appear on NHK Radio to promote the release of the album 'Scent of Snow'. With poems by Maria Takeuchi and music by Tasmanian Tim Jones. On November 30 Michael will perform with and conduct the Hobart Orpheus Choir in their 130th Anniversary Concert. The choir will be supported by The Derwent Symphony Orchestra. Michael will sing the baritone solo in Dvorak's 'Te Deum' and will conduct the premieres of his own 'Ave Verum Corpus' and Don Kay's 'Her Passion Tells'.
